What ADV measures: How often a player forces the defense to make a decision before the shot exists — drives that collapse the paint, pull-ups that demand a closeout, fouls that punish overplay, kick-outs that create open 3s. High ADV = the engine that breaks defenses. Low ADV = catch-and-finish role player. ADV correlates with MLAPM (r=0.365) but captures a different dimension — a player can be a high ADV creator with modest MLAPM (Clark, Plum) or low ADV with high MLAPM (Kayla McBride, Jonquel Jones).
